Sindri Production and RZ HB Mekaniska Formalize Cooperation on Near Net Shape Technology
Published on September 29, 2026 14:47Sindri Production AB and RZ HB Mekaniska AB have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to jointly evaluate the potential of Sindri's Near Net Shape technology for machining applications.
The cooperation marks an important step in Sindri's continued development and industrialization of its technology for producing Near Net Shape (NNS) preforms. By producing components closer to their final geometry, the technology aims to significantly reduce material consumption, machining requirements and material waste.
RZ HB Mekaniska is an experienced machining company and has contributed valuable practical knowledge throughout the discussions, including requirements related to component geometry, workholding and subsequent machining.
Evaluating a real industrial application
As part of the cooperation, the parties have identified an existing industrial component as a potential application for evaluating the technology.
The objective is to compare the NNS approach with the conventional manufacturing process and evaluate its potential to reduce material consumption, machining time and waste.
The component represents the type of application where significant amounts of material are traditionally removed during machining. By starting closer to the final component geometry, the NNS approach has the potential to substantially reduce both the amount of raw material required and the machining effort.
The next step is to continue the technical evaluation and assess the feasibility of using NNS preforms in a real production environment.
An important step towards industrialization
For Sindri Production, the cooperation with RZ HB Mekaniska represents an important step from technology development towards practical industrial applications.
Through the signed Letter of Intent, the companies have formalized their mutual intention to continue evaluating Sindri's NNS technology and its potential for reducing material use and machining requirements.
The cooperation also provides Sindri with valuable input from an experienced machining company, helping to ensure that the technology is developed with real-world production requirements in mind.
Sindri continues to build a network of industrial partners and develop its technology together with companies that bring practical expertise and relevant industrial applications to the development process.
We look forward to taking the next steps together with RZ HB Mekaniska and continuing to develop more material- and resource-efficient manufacturing processes.
